Why should I participate in Shinerama?

Shinerama is a great way to give back to your local community, gain valuable skills, and meet cool, new people at your school! We rely on the generous support of our volunteers, donors, and partners, who help us move toward our vision of a world with cystic fibrosis. The money raised through Shinerama allows CF Canada to invest in world-class targeted research and advocate for high-quality CF care. How can I volunteer for Shinerama or get involved?

Please contact the Shinerama campaign coordinator at your school to find out what volunteer roles are available. To find the contact information for your campaign coordinator, click on "Find Your School" and then locate your school name in the drop-down list. Once you find your school name, click on it to be redirected to your school's online fundraising page. There you will find your campaign coordinator's contact information! You can also email shinerama@cysticfibrosis.ca, and we will connect you to your school's campaign coordinator.

Can I still support Shinerama even though my school does not participate?

Of course! Either you can make a general donation to Shinerama, or you can register as a virtual Shiner and fundraise online. If you are interested in starting a Shinerama campaign at your school, please contact shinerama@cysticfibrosis.ca.

How can I bring Shinerama to my school?

We are always looking to bring Shinerama to new universities, colleges or technical schools across Canada. Contact shinerama@cysticfibrosis.ca to get started!

How is the money I raise through Shinerama used at Cystic Fibrosis Canada?

Cystic Fibrosis Canada funds research projects with the greatest potential to advance our understanding and treatment of cystic fibrosis and improve the quality of life for our CF patients. Click here to learn more about what we are funding.

How do I log into my account?

You can access your Shinerama account by using the Login option located in the top right hand corner.

Can I register with my username and password from previous years?

Yes, you can continue to use the same username and password.

What if I forget my username and password?

Click on "Forgot your username and password option on the login page.

a) Have you forgotten your username?
Enter your email address into the email address field and then click submit. You will receive an email with your username.

b) Have you forgotten your password?
If you know your username, please enter it into the username field and then click submit. You will receive an email to the email address associated with the username you entered containing instructions on how to reset your password.

c) Forgot both?
Please request your username by entering in your email address into the email address field. Once you receive the email with your username, return to the ""Forgot Username and Password"" page and enter your username to begin the process to create a new password.

How do I join an existing team?

During the registration process, you will be asked if you would like to register as an individual, join a team, or create a team. Click on "JOIN A TEAM," and then search for the team you are interested in joining by either searching by the team name or team captain's name. Once you locate the team, select the team and click "NEXT".

I want to register as a member of a team, but my team isn’t listed.
  • Please double check spelling of the team name.
  • Try typing in the first few letters of the team name into the search field to pull up multiple team names that use that combination of letters. You can then select the team you want to join.
  • You can also search by the team captain’s name.
  • It’s also possible that your team captain has not created your team yet. In this case, you can register as an individual and join the team later once it has been created.
Can I register for more than one location or Shine team?

At this time you are unable to register for more than one location or team. However, team members can be part of the same team and shine in different locations. Funds raised will be allocated per team member.

How do I donate to a specific person?

Click on "DONATE/SEARCH" and then on "SEARCH OR DONATE TO A SHINER". You can then search for the individual you are looking to donate to.

How do I make a general donation to Shinerama?

Click on "DONATE/SEARCH" and then on "GENERAL DONATION". Follow the instructions on the donation page.

Why should I make a self-donation?

Self-donations show that you are invested in raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and sets the bar for your donors to donate a similar amount. You are given the option to make a self-donation during the registration process. You can also make a self-donation at any time through your personal fundraising page.

How do I receive a tax receipt?

All online donations of $20.00 and over will automatically receive a tax receipt to the email address you provided. If you did not receive your tax receipt or would like to receive one for a donation less than $20.00, please contact us at shinerama@cysticfibrosis.ca.

I lost my tax receipt, how can I get another copy?

cash & cheque donations

One of my donors gave me a cash donation but I would like to pay for it on my credit card. How do I ensure my donor gets a tax receipt?

Click on "Personal Fundraising" and then on "Manage Cash or Cheques" and enter your donor's information. After clicking "Add Donation", a grey box will appear at the bottom of page listing the donation you have entered. You will have the option to delete, edit, or pay for the donation. Click on "Pay" and enter your credit card information to pay for the donation. Your donor will receive a tax receipt in their name.

Will my cash and cheque donations appear on my online fundraising homepage?

If you would like your cash and cheque donations to appear on your online fundraising page, enter the donations through “Manage Cash or Cheques”. If you have not entered them in this section, they will not be added to your online totals.
