Why should I participate in Shinerama?

Shinerama is a great way to give back to your local community, gain valuable skills and meet cool, new people at your school! We rely on the generous fundraising efforts of our Shiners, donors, partners, and volunteers who can help realize our vision of a world without CF. The money raised through Shinerama funds new research lab discoveries, develops new treatments and invests in quality of improvement for CF care. How can I volunteer for Shinerama or get involved?

Please contact the Shinerama Coordinator at your school to find out what volunteer roles are available. Visit Find a School and Register to locate your Shine Coordinator’s contact information. You also can check out your school’s website for more information or email and we will make sure we link you to the correct person.

Can I still support Shinerama even though my school does not participate?

Of course! You can make a donation or you can register as a virtual shiner to send out emails to family and friends sharing your story on why supporting Shinerama and Cystic Fibrosis Canada is so important to you. If you are interested in starting your own Shinerama event, please contact

How can I bring Shinerama to my school?

We are always looking to bring Shinerama to new universities, colleges or technical schools across Canada. Contact to get started!


How do I log into my account?

You can access your Shinerama account by using the Login option located in the top right hand corner.

Is my username and password the same as previous years?

Yes, you can continue to use the same username and password.

What if I forget my username and password?

Click on "Forgot Your Username and Password" option on the login page.

a) Have you forgotten your username?

Enter your email address into the Email Address field on the form and you will receive an email with your username.

b) Have you forgotten your password?

If you know your username, please enter it into the Username field on the form and a new window will open where you will be able to create a new password.

c) Forgot both?

Please request your username by entering in your email address into the field on the form. Once you receive an email with your username, return to the "Forgot Username and Password" area and enter your username to begin the process to create a new password.

Can I register for more than one location or Shine team?

At this time you are unable to register for more than one location or team. However, team members can be part of the same team and shine in different locations. Funds raised will be allocated per team member.

How do I join an existing team?

During the registration process, you will be asked if you would like to “Register as an individual”, “Join a Team” or “Start a Team”. Click “Join a Team” and you will be able to search for an existing team name or team captain’s name and join their team.

I want to register as a member of a team, but my team isn’t listed.
  • Please double check spelling of the team name.
  • Try typing in the first few letters of the team name into the search field to pull up multiple team names that use that combination of letters. You can then select the team you want to join.
  • You can also search by your Team Captain’s name or your Shine location.
  • It’s also possible your Team Captain has not created your team yet. In this case, you can register as an individual and join the team later once it has been created.

How do I donate to a specific person?

Click the "Donate/Search" button from the homepage. Click on "Search or Donate to a Shiner".  You can then search by the Shiner’s name.

How do I make a general donation to Shinerama?

Click the DONATE/SEARCH button on the home page. Click GENERAL DONATION and enter your information.

Why should I make a self-donation?

Self-donations show that you are invested in raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Canada and sets the bar for your donors to donate a similar amount. You are given the option to make a self-donation during the registration process and can also make one at any time through your personal fundraising page.

How do I receive a tax receipt?

All online donations of $20.00 and over will automatically receive a tax receipt to the email address you provided. If you did not receive your tax receipt or would like to receive one for a donation less than $20.00, please contact us at

I lost my tax receipt, how can I get another copy?

cash & cheque donations

One of my donors gave me a cash donation but I would like to pay for it on my credit card. How do I ensure my donor gets a receipt?

Click “Manage Cash and Cheques” and enter your donor’s information. After clicking “Add Donation”, a grey box will appear at the bottom listing the donations you have entered and asking if you would like to “Delete”, “Edit” or “Pay”. Click “Pay” and you will be able to enter your credit card information and your donor will receive a receipt in their name.

Will my cash and cheque donations appear on my online fundraising homepage?

If you would like your cash and cheque donations to appear on your online fundraising homepage, enter the donations in the “Manage Cash and Cheques” section of your personal or team fundraising homepage. If you have not entered them in this section, they will not be added to your online totals.
